Designer: UNSIGNED. Miriam Haskell made high end jewelry since 20's. Her costume jewelry is the collectible of the collectibles. Most of her pieces were signed from the 1940's onward.

This exquisite necklace is Miriam Haskell's earlier piece and is unsigned but has all the characteristics of her early famous creations. Typical of the early Haskell pieces, the pendant is extremely orante. It is embellished by antique gilded leaves and acorns (a hallmark of Miriam Haskell's naturalistic themes), smoky floral glass beads, glitzy dangling crystals and a large smoky brilliant paste secured by antique gilded crown prongs. All these gorgeous intricate embellishments are handwired into a ornately detailed brass gilded butterfly filigree base. The awesome detailing can only be truly appreciated in person. The photos don't do it justice. The strand has glittering smoky faceted crystals with two faceted small silver metal beads in between each crystal as spacers. There are also two large sparkling clear crystals adorned by a glittering clear rhinestoned glided brass rondelle on each side. The beautiful pendant measures 2 1/2" x 2". The largest crystals measure almost 1/2" in diameter. Needless to say, all the crystals are high quality. Miriam Haskell is known for using fine quality material imported from France, Italy and Venice with most crystals came from Bohemia. All her pieces are done by hand and has the distinct characteristics of irregularities in her pieces. This ravishing necklace showcases a superb example of Miriam Haskell's hard-to-find early pieces. It is in amazingly great condition considering its age as if a sleeping beauty has just awakened from a long forgotten treasured vault.
